6 days of Vinyasa Flow Yoga Immersion including Meditation & Pranayama with twice daily teaching - teaching influenced by the wisdom of Rod Stryker - with focus on strength, alignment, flexibility, balance, subtle body, energy, transition postures, ease, sustaining the posture….

Retreat includes: 6 day’s teaching with twice daily asana with Monica Marini and some meditation, 7 nights accommodation in either single or twin en-suite rooms, full board vegetarian/vegan food, indoor Yoga sessions in a beautiful yoga shala and outdoor meditation sessions in nature (if Monica/you so choose); one half day trip to the nearest beach for a swim in the ocean - and a quick visit to a typical Puglian town if you wish; use of the pool and exclusive use of all of the venue space and gardens.
Retreat does not include: airport transfers or bodywork or flights - NB we strongly suggest you take out travel insurance which covers for trip cancellation to avoid any disappointment with unforeseen circumstance or illness etc... We will have an Opening Circle on the evening of 23 June to introduce ourselves and to answer any questions about house-keeping or excursion or about the schedule for the week. For anyone who arrives very late that evening and misses it - we will re-cap on the morning of 24 June.
Nearest airports are BRINDISI (closest) and BARI (a bit further away). EasyJet and RyanAir and British Airways fly from London (Gatwick and Stansted and Heathrow) to both BARI & BRINDISI. Please book early to avoid disappointment and to avoid flight prices going up and up. For a small cost the venue can arrange taxis to/from the airports on arrival day. After booking please email us your flight details and say whether you’d like a taxi arranged and we will inform the venue.
Monica is influenced by the teaching is Rod Stryker and believes yoga is a methodology for freeing life energy or prana so that we can live healthier and happier lives. Yoga is an internal practice that reveals something fresh and new about ourselves. More than to be watched or talked about, yoga is to be experienced thus allowing transformation to begin from within - and to begin to live from the inside out rather than from the outside in. On this retreat we will have twice daily asana practice with time for meditation either at the end of the morning or evening classes - 6 full days teaching - home-grown, hand-cooked and chef-prepared delicious alkaline vegetarian food for breakfast lunch and supper - luxurious accommodation with all bedrooms having own en-suite bathrooms - time for relaxing, swimming in the pool, for bodywork with Katrina - a half day to spend at the beach and enjoy the turquoise blue and crystal clear adriatic and to see a typical Puglian town - and time for gentle fun and for quiet reflection and walks in the 15 hectares of woodland at the venue in the famous Puglian Itria Valley.
RETREAT YOGA TEACHING SCHEDULE:
The 6 day yoga teaching schedule for the retreat will encompass the following:
Day 1: AWARENESS - Becoming sensitised to our current state both physically and mentally to establish presence in our practice. Presence will be the holding principle throughout the week.
Pointers: Side bends, Mindfulness
Day 2: LETTING GO - We begin the process of letting go of ideas and notions that we hold about our practice and ourselves moving from the familiar to the unfamiliar. Letting go of resistance.
Pointers: Forward bends, Emptiness
Day 3: STABILITY - Having created internal mental and physical space we can now work at building stronger foundations for the new to emerge through an inner sense of stability and with right effort.
Pointers: Hips, Centering
Day 4: TRANSITIONING - From a place of stability it is easier to move fluidly and sustain the unknown with an open and clear heart. Strength sustains our efforts.
Pointers: Transitions, Moving from the core
Day 5: OPENING - Clarity is power. Not only welcoming but inviting change with the clarity of intention. Positively influencing the direction of our practice.
Pointers: Backbends, Expansion, Trust
Day 6: EMBRACING - Without expectations and sustained by clarity and strength, by presence and stability how do we own our 'new' state? Can we embrace it and also be prepared to let it go, allowing for the spiralling flow of life to continue?

About the Venue:
La Rosa dei 4 Venti is set in an elegantly restored 16th century masseria (namely a traditional farmhouse in this Puglia region). The family-run masseria is unique and comfortable and caters to specialist yoga holidays. The 15-hectare property is situated on a small hillock in the heart of the Itria Valley in the heel of Italy’s boot (the nearest international airport is Brindisi). Staying true to the old Apulian style, many of the authentic features of the farm are still in place and provide an idyllic backdrop for the white-washed buildings which make up the accommodation. The retreat has both an indoor yoga shala and an outdoor yoga platform. Yoga classes take place twice daily and are suitable for all levels and abilities.
There is ample time to relax, enjoy the superb views, contemplate, swim, read, sleep or have bodywork sessions with Katrina in the treatment room.
Bodywork session timing can be arranged with Katrina at the start of the retreat.
Each room is unique, full of character and comes with an en suite with shower, toilet and basin. Rooms are furnished to reflect the building and the area, creating a relaxed, calming and zen atmosphere.
The main house/masseria comfortably accommodates 10 people and close by there are another 5 rooms in the conical trulli houses. These small, white cone-shaped buildings are one of the most magical aspects of the Puglian landscape.
Freedom and simplicity are at the heart of this yoga venue. The surrounding landscape is scenic and rural and is dotted with olive trees and vineyards and divided by dry-stone walls. Between the green gardens, the swimming pool, wild forest and nearby fields and the tiny church, there is plenty of space in which to explore, to walk around & just be in, and in which to feel and be free.
Delicious Local Food
Staying true to the surroundings, traditional recipes of Puglia using local produce are offered as snacks during yoga breaks. Farm-to-table chef-cooked vegetarian meals are of an excellent standard, making full use of the local food and home-grown vegetable gardens. If you have any extra special dietary requirements or allergies, please let us know at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate them.
